“If I can help somebody as I pass along.......Then my living will not be in vain.” This
could have been the theme song for the life of a remarkable woman of God who
enriched the lives of so many. Rev. Barbara Hughes joined her Heavenly Father
on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021.

Rev. John Wallace Wortham and Rev. Dr. Margaret L. Wortham. She would
thrive in their Christian home, immersed in the knowledge and of the power of
God’s love.
Barbara moved to Denver, Colorado at the invitation of her brother, Attorney J.
Wallace Wortham Jr., and continued her career in printing/publishing. A lifelong
learner, she enrolled at Metropolitan State College. After a series of
life-challenging illnesses, Barbara pursued and achieved a Masters of Divinity,
specializing in Pastoral Counseling at Denver Seminary.
For over 35 years, Barbara conducted Bible studies and prayer groups in her
home, touching the lives of thousands across the country with conference call
prayer groups, workshops and evangelism. She founded the Ex Nihilo Ministry, a
fellowship of disciples dedicated to service, study and prayer. She was a much
sought-after evangelist, workshop leader and Bible teacher, known for preaching
the Word with power and passion.
