Mae Hoy Obituary

After 89 years,  Mae Thelma Hoy "closed her eyes on this side, but woke up in Glory" on Tuesday evening, September 10, 2019, from Wichita, Kansas. Mae Thelma Hoy was born to Bernice and Wilbur P. Johnson in Roosevelt, OK. Mae Thelma attended Roosevelt grade school.  She moved to Wichita at the age of 15 years old and attended St. Joseph’s School of Radiology from 1950-1953. Mae Thelma married Luther Peoples and from this union, Collette Peoples was born. As life goes on she later married Alexander Hoy and to this union, Denise Hoy was born. Mae Thelma accepted Christ at the Greater Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under Rev. C. J. Taylor and became an active member.  She served on the Mother’s Board and worked with the Purity class in the 1980s. Mae Thelma worked at the Veteran’s Hospital for 25 years, later working at Wesley Hospital in the radiology department. When her mother became ill, she completely retired and cared for her and co-parented her grandson Joshua Hoy. Thelma enjoyed cooking for the holiday events with Christmas and Thanksgiving being her favorite holidays. She leaves many precious memories to cherish. She is survived by her Daughter Denise Farris, Grandson Joshua (Christine) Hoy, Caleb Farris, Alexander Joshua Hoy (Great Grandson), Granddaughters Amari, Gabriel, and Judea Farris; Siblings: Brother Richard Johnson and Sisters Theresa Carter, Esther (Benjamin) Baldwin,  Sister-in-Law Patty Johnson, Yvonne Johnson, Son-in-Law Clinton Farris. Preceded in Death: Parents Wilbur P. and Bernice Johnson, Daughter Collette Horner, Brothers, Raymond and Wayne Johnson, Sisters Oretha Anderson, Irene (Eddie) Harris, and Lucinda Anderson.

Mae T. Hoy was the major starting contributor to what is now known as The Hoy-Baker Funeral Home That Serves Colorado and surrounding areas. (2019) -Current
