LaVonne Blackman Obituary

LaVonne Mae Blackman

February 3, 1940 – March 13, 2025

LaVonne “Lovie” Mae Blackman, 85, of Aurora, CO, went to dance with Jesus on March 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 3, 1940, in South Dakota to Grace and Edward Kuyper, LaVonne grew up on a farm, where she learned the values of hard work, faith, and family—values she carried with her throughout her life. She was blessed with five wonderful children, 14 cherished grandchildren, and 26 adored great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Lovie had a deep and unwavering trust in Jesus, and a love for Him that she shared through her kindness, laughter, and the way she embraced life with both sweetness and so much sass. She had a heart full of music and a soul full of joy, always making those around her smile. Whether it was through a witty remark or a warm hug, she had a way of leaving people better than she found them.

She was a woman of great strength and faith, with a heart of gold, a feisty spirit, and unshakable grit. No matter what life threw her way, she faced it with determination, resilience, and a spark that made her truly unforgettable. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family and her Savior."

A celebration of her magnificent life will be held this summer, where family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful soul she was.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul.”  – Psalm 23:1-3 (NASB 1995)
